Chad Pennington is done for the season!

Quarterback Chad Pennington’s season has ended. Miami placed him on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury suffered on Sunday against the Chargers. Pennington’s injury is not yet clear, reports indicated a torn capsule in his right shoulder while it is also thought he may have damage to the rotator cuff. Miami traded with the Chiefs for quarterback Tyler Thigpen in exchange for a draft pick.

LaDainian Tomlinson will be out

LaDainian Tomlinson will miss San Diego’s game against Baltimore Ravens due to a sprained ankle.

Darren Sproles will start at running back for the Chargers against the Ravens.

Jets Fined!

The NFL assessed $125,000 in fines to the New York Jets and management for violating the league’s rules on injury reporting for Brett Favre last season. The Jets failed to place Favre on the injury report during the final month of last season even though he had a torn biceps tendon. The league announced it had fined the Jets $75,000,  Eric Mangina  $25,000, and Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum $25,000.

Vick is one step closer

The Philadelphia Eagles put Michael Vick on the team’s 53-man roster Tuesday, a move that allows him to practise with the team.

Wide receiver Hank Baskett was released to make room for Vick, who is eligible to play Sept. 27 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Vick will begin practising with the team Wednesday,  Vick was suspended for the first two regular-season games.

Kevin Kolb is expected to start this week because Donovan McNabb has a cracked rib.  Jeff Garcia was signed to back up Kolb .

URLACHER OUT FOR SEASON

Chicago Bears star linebacker Brian Urlacher  went on injured reserve after having surgery Monday to repair a dislocated right wrist and will not be back this season. Hunter Hillenmeyer is expected to start at middle linebacker this week when the Bears host Pittsburgh. Chicago also signed linebacker Tim Shaw.

The season is set to kick of on Thursday, we post our week one picks on Thursday for you.

Here is some quick notes from this past week in the NFL:

Richard Seymour did not report to the Oakland Raiders after being acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots.

Shawne Merriman said he did not harm reality TV star Tila Tequila.  Merriman was arrested and accused of choking and throwing Tequila to the ground as she tried to leave his home in suburban Poway.

The New York Jets acquired quarterback Kevin O’Connell from the Detroit Lions for an undisclosed draft pick.
